1. Main: Liesel Meminger, Hans Hubermann, Rosa Hubermann, Rudy Steiner, the Narrator (death) Minor: Liesel's younger brother, Liesel's mother, Tommy Müller, the kids at here school Liesel's brother, a minor character, affected her in a huge way. His death caused her to have horrific nightmares, and has forced her to live on her own without him. Also her mother put her into foster care which doesn't make sense to her. She feels as if her mother doesn't want her. The kids at her school also affect her because they bully her for not being smart and they lower her self-asteam.
2. I disagree with her mom's decision of putting her into foster care. I think that she made Liesel feel as if she were unwanted and unloved. I think that she could have cared for her until Liesel was old enough to move on or she should have at least explained to her why she needed to leave her there. This is a poor decision because it made a young innocent girl feel sad and very badly about herself.
3. This story has changed my thinking in many ways. It has showed me how horrible the Jews were treated by the Nazi's and the other Germans. They would destroy Jewish people's houses and their stores, and would capture them and take them away. Its sad because the young children like Rudy and Liesel find this normal and not a big deal because it happens all the time. They don't realize how these people are dragged from their families and taken to their death. Also this changes my reasoning of death. The narrator of this story is death and he says that you WILL die and that death WILL happen, no matter what. It opens my eyes to all the horrific things that occured in Europe during this time and about death.
